Hey Jeffrey- just first want to say how much I enjoy both your podcast (which I listen to on my morning run) and your emails. Love baseball history!
In the piece about the largest margin of victory, you said:
"The 28-0 score is the largest margin of victory in a Major League Baseball game since 1900. The only other game in which a team has scored 28 runs is a 28-2 victory by the Chicago White Sox over the Philadelphia Athletics on September 23, 1922."
1 ) the game mentioned was in 1883, thus not "since 1900".
2) several teams have scored at least 28 runs since 1900...
30 - Texas, 2007
29 - Atlanta, 2020
29 - CWS, 1955
29 - RED SOX, 1950
28 - Toronto, 2022
28 - Cardinals, 1929
Maybe I just interpreted your statement incorrectly. I don't mean this as a criticism, just letting you know.
Hi Al! Great points - I wrote this section quite sloppily after reading your points. Thanks for the clarification!
