Inside the Episode:
Are the New York Mets cursed? Hear me out. The 1992 fiasco we covered in the episode, but look at their notable “bad fortune” in the past 30-40 years:
In 1999 they made an amazing comeback in the NLCS just to fall short in Game 6.
In 2000 the Mets made it to the World Series, lost a 12-inning heartbreaker in Game 1, and then went to lose it all in 5 games.
In 2006 they lost a 7-game World Series battle to the St. Louis Cardinals.
In 2007 the team, with a high payroll (a la 1992) had a monumental collapse. The same happened in 2008.
In 2009 the team was plagued by a major trend of injuries to star players.
I could go on. The point is…has any team had such bad luck in the past 30 years? I say no. Agree? disagree? Leave a comment and let’s discuss!
Interesting Baseball Reads This Week…
With Hall of Fame inductions coming soon, the MLB released an excellent article this week answering the question “which Hall of Fame class is the greatest?”
Dating back to the first Baseball Hall of Fame class in 1936, there have been 79 different classes inducted into Cooperstown, with this year representing the 80th.
This article ranked every squad, delving deep into stats and making some great insights.
For me? I think the answer is the Class of 2018 (yes, I am factoring in athleticism here.)
What do you think? Check out the article and leave a comment!
